Job Posting: Operations Manager

My Degree Consultants Inc. (founded as MD Consultants in 2009) is a Canadian consulting network of more than 60 medical students, residents, and attending physicians who practice in various specialties across Canada and the United States. We started out as a company in 2009 to provide high quality consulting services that would enable aspiring healthcare professionals gain admission into the programs of their choice. Our company is led by 3 physician partners who graduated from the University of Toronto. Our current services range from admissions consulting to healthcare consulting to the delivery of healthcare.

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our group based in Toronto and take an active role in spearheading sales, business development, and consultant management initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall growth of sales and operations, including but not limited to partnership development, expansion of local and international sales, increasing workflow efficiencies, database maintenance, and management of our consultants, campus and sales ambassadors.

This role will involve working closely with all 3 founding partners, as well as interacting with multiple consultants at any given time.

Sales:

  • Drive sales by communicating with clients and providing appropriate feedback to partners
  • Educate clients on our brand and products
  • Influence sales through the strategic use of programs, promotions, and marketing/advertising support
  • Visit university campuses, secondary schools, and other locations to better understand our clients and build longitudinal relationships
  • Maintain an up-to-date sales database
  • Meet monthly sales targets and revenue numbers
  • Monitor and adjust client outreach and marketing strategies in order to meet sales targets

Business development:

  • Identify opportunities to increase sales and product assortment
  • Provide feedback on product development and on overall business strategy
  • Build new (and maintain existing) relationships with local and international partners to drive sales and marketing efforts
  • Maintain strong brand and product knowledge of our competitors
  • Maintain intelligence on industry and marketplace changes that could lead to increased opportunities and new or increased competition

Consultant Management

  • Manage consultant concerns as well as facilitate timely payments to consultants for work completed
  • Maintain an up-to-date consultant database
  • Anticipate hiring needs according to client demand, and recruit new consultants as needed
  • Create new strategies as appropriate to attract and nurture our network of consultants

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree, preferably in business
  • 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in a sales, marketing, or management capacity. Various types of sales experience will be considered.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization skills, customer service skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize with urgency in accomplishing day-to-day responsibilities
  • Self-discipline and the ability to regularly report to partners on progress of weekly responsibilities.
  • A proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/ Outlook/ Excel, cloud-based platforms, email marketing, graphic design, e-commerce, etc.

Compensation:

This is a full-time position, with the capacity to work from home on 1 day/week. Estimated start date is 27 June 2016 (negotiable). Compensation will consist of base salary plus bonuses tied to company performance. Estimated pay will total $45,000 to $55,000 per annum. Compensation will be further discussed with successful candidates invited for an interview.

Our selection process will be as follows:

Round 1: Pre-screening of all resumes and cover letters
Round 2: Select applicants will be invited to a telephone interview with a member of our Executive team
Round 3: Select applicants will be invited to an in person interview with our entire Executive team and current OM (4 person panel)
