“New Graduate Entry Program” student scholarship essay competition
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
- Current grade 12 high school students
- Current undergraduate students in any disciplines of study
- Students completing post-graduate degrees are not eligible
Essay Instructions
- The New Graduate Entry Program was launched by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) on October 23, 2015. Discuss the pros and cons of the new program from the perspective of a physician, patient, healthcare system, or society.
- Each participant may submit one essay of no more than 500 words. No joint entries are permitted.
- Any reference style is permitted however a minimum of 2 references is required with a maximum of 5 references.
- The submitted entry must not have been previously published.
Evaluation Criteria
Each entry will be judged by a panel consisting of medical students, residents, and staff physicians. Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:
- Originality of submission (30%)
- Structure and clarity (30%)
- Quality and accuracy of research (20%)
- Grammar/presentation/format (20%)
Awards
- One first place winner will be chosen with an award of $300.
- Two second place winners will be awarded a free 2-hr consultation (worth $240) each.
- All winners will receive a certificate.

- In the email subject, please state “essay competition_your name”.
- The deadline is May 1, 2017 at 11:59 pm EST. Late entries will not be accepted.
