Ekaksh is a resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He completed medical school and undergraduate education in Biochemistry at the University of Calgary. During medical school, he was a board member for the Student Run Clinic and part of the Immigrant and Refugee Health Committee for SHINE (Students for Health Innovation and Education), who are focused on bridging the gap between public health and medicine.

He is originally from Calgary, Alberta and is passionate about medical education as well as mentorship for the next generation of medical professionals.

  • SHINE (Students for Health Innovation and Education) is a group of medical students at the Cumming School of Medicine focused on bridging the gap between public health and medicine. Was responsible for developing and implementing research and community projects focused on meeting the health and education needs of immigrant and refugee populations.
  • The SRC is a student-led registered non-profit organization working with local physicians to provide after-hours care for under-served populations in Calgary. Managed financial transactions, logistics, and apply for funding for the SRC organization.
  • The Student Professionalism Representatives act as resources for medical students who have encountered general professionalism issues occurring at the individual, interpersonal, social, and/or systemic level. Acted as a liaison between UME and medical students on professionalism issues. Was responsible for fostering an atmosphere of respect and professionalism within the class.
