Avery Mooring is a Canadian medical student at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (Class of 2029), with academic interests in pediatrics and oncology. She completed a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Miami, where her research explored sex-specific immunological mechanisms in glioblastoma. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, graduating with distinction and recognition on the Dean’s Honour List. Professionally, Avery worked in the University of Miami Surgical Department, where she collaborated with surgical teams to procure organs and tissue for transplantation and research. Her clinical experience includes an observership in pediatric surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she assisted in the OR and outpatient clinic. Avery’s diverse research background spans cardiology, oncology, and molecular biology, with multiple presentations at academic symposia. Outside of academics, Avery has demonstrated strong leadership through roles such as Co-President of the Vogue Charity Fashion Show, raising over $171,000 for charity, and as Outreach Lead for Queen’s iGEM team, presenting at the international iGEM conference in Paris. She is passionate about mentorship, community engagement, and pursuing a career dedicated to patient-centered care.
