Marina Giovannoni (She/Her) is a medical student at the University of Alberta. She completed a BSc in Biological Sciences and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Alberta, followed by an MSc in Reproductive and Developmental Sciences at the University of British Columbia. Her previous research experience involves bridging the cervical cancer divide between settler and First Nations women by offering culturally-safe HPV self screening options to women living in remote communities in Northern BC, media analysis of believed mothers who have lost children to the opioid epidemic, and evaluation of anticoagulant medication effectiveness post gynaecological cancer surgeries. Her passions include women’s health, Indigenous health and Health equity.
